Beyond the Mouse: Accelerating Drug Discovery for Obesity & T2D with HUGO-GT
PRESENTER:
Delaine Zundell, Ph.D. | Director of Business Development, Midwest & Southeast US
PRESENTER'S BIO:
Delaine is a scientist-turned business development leader with a strong background in metabolism, circadian biology, and cancer research. She completed a B.A. in Biology at the University of Puerto Rico before earning her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. She then transitioned from academic research into a commercial role, supporting therapeutic innovation. She now leverages her scientific training and strategic approach to connect researchers—from academic groups to global pharmaceutical teams—with solutions that accelerate discovery and advance innovation.
ABSTRACT:
While traditional mouse models are staples of metabolic research, they often lack the genomic sophistication to predict human clinical outcomes. This webinar explores how to bypass these limitations using Cyagen’s HUGO-GT™ platform and the AI-powered Rare Disease Data Center (RDDC). We will dive into the advantages of full-length genomic humanization, demonstrating how this approach preserves essential regulatory landscapes for targets like hINHBE, hALK7, hLPA and hPCSK9. Attendees will learn how combining high-efficiency gene editing with specialized PD studies provides the mechanistic clarity needed to de-risk drug development for obesity, type 2 diabetes, and atherosclerosis. Join us to discover a new standard for evaluating in vivo drug efficacy.
